US wants multi-purpose ties with Pakistan

United States Ambassador Anne Patterson in her meeting with Speaker National Assembly, Chaudhry Amir Hussain praised Pakistan's laudable role in the conduct of the war on terror, and for its work for peace and stability in the region.
Much more significant, Ambassador Anne spoke of her country's strong desire to build a long and multi-purpose relations with Pakistan as well as to expand the continuing good economic ties that have proved beneficial to both. The Ambassador called on the Speaker on Wednesday, and learnt from Chaudhry Amir Hussain the smooth manner in which democratic institutions functioned.
In his talks with her, the NA Speaker specifically mentioned the subject of women empowerment, and the minority rights guaranteed and secured, as well as press freedom, and the work of a strong Media. In addition to these manifestations of working democracy, the Speaker pointed to the presence of a vibrant opposition in the Pakistan Parliament.
Chaudhry Amir said the people of Pakistan abhorred terrorism and stood for eliminating its evil forms, and added that as a partner in the war against terrorism.
