As per decision of national action committee (NAC), more than 8,000 lawyers of Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions on Thursday observed complete strike and boycotted their professional duties. They wore black armbands and hoisted black flags atop of their bar rooms.
High Court bar Multan staged a demonstration under the leadership of its president Habib-ullah Shakir and Rana Naveed Akhtar general secretary. Similarly another demonstration was staged by the district bar Multan under the leadership of Muhammad Akram Bhatti (president), Mumtaz Noon Tangra (general secretary), Shaikh Faheem Ahmed, Mazhar Jamil Qureshi (senior lawyers). Later they held protest meetings in the bar rooms. "We are launching second phase of our struggle to rid the country of the dictatorial rule and introduce a pure democracy in Pakistan as we have achieved the success by way of restoration of the Chief Justice of Pakistan on July 20 last," Habib-ullah Shakir said.
He said that we had named our movement 'ab raj karegi khalqe khuda' (now the masses will rule), to kick start the move from September 6, when they would mark the defence day as a defence day of the nation against the repeated military intervention in the civil govt. They are unanimity of view that this time their mission was to rid the country of the military rule and struggle against anyone who will act to sustain dictatorship in the country.
