Call to reduce prices in Ramazan

07 Sep, 2007

District Officer Revenue (DOR) Vehari on Thursday called upon traders to keep prices of consumer items stable, especially during the oncoming holy month of Ramazan. Talking to traders' representatives, DOR Zahid Salim Gondal said, "Ramazan is the holy month of fasting and it is the time to win bounteous blessings of Allah."
However, he criticised the practice by wholesale dealers and retailers to create artificial price hike to draw maximum profits and income during Ramazan. He urged traders to practice restrain and earn only reasonable profit during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.
The official said District Price Committee would be made more effective to ensure that prices limits fixed by the district government were fully implemented. Traders assured of co-operation in maintaining prices during Ramazan.
