French tour operator Club Mediterranee said on Friday the outlook for its business in the second half was mixed as it reported flat like-for-like sales for its fiscal third quarter. Club Med said bookings in the year to September 1 were up 7 percent but slowed in early summer in France because of elections.
While business in the Americas in August was affected by Hurricane Dean and air travel problems in Brazil. "Business in the second half presents a contrasted picture," Club Med said in a statement.
It said sales in the three months to July 31 rose to 421 million euros from 415 million euros a year earlier, led by a 2.5 percent increase in sales at its core holiday villages businesses to 328 million euros. It said, however, that on a like-for-like basis sales were flat, despite like-for-like revenue at its core holiday villages businesses rising 3.8 percent.
