A leader of PML (N), Khwaja Muhammad Asif, MNA, filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday on behalf of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The petitioner said that in pursuance of the Orders of the Supreme Court passed on July 23, 2007, Muhamrnad Nawaz Sharif, "has arrived at Islarnabad International Airport. He arrived via PIA Flight PK 786 on September 10, 2007, and is presently at the airport".
The petition said: "The Petitioner apprehends that Mian Muharnamd Nawaz Sharif is being detained at the airport for departure to another country." He said that Nawaz Sharif was willing to face any case, trial, and was not willing to leave this country forcibly, and in violation of the orders of the Court;
"That he has not been allowed to come out of the airplane whereas other passengers have already disembarked. This has created a genuine apprehension that Mr Nawaz Sharif is likely to be deported;
"In pursuance of the orders of this Court the petitioner requests that Mian Muhammad Nawaz's entry into Pakistan not be restricted in any manner and in pursuance of his fundamental rights; "The petitioner prays that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif be produced in the Supreme Court so that he may be dealt with according to law."
