Some 20 independent candidates will contest for six National Assembly and 62 for 13 Punjab Assembly seats in January 8 elections. Out of 164, the total number of candidates from the district here, 82 will contest from independent positions and remaining 82 are affiliated with one or the other political party.
According to election data - against six NA seats a total of 45 candidates are in the arena: These include six of PPP, 20 independents, five of PML (Q), five from PML (N), while PML-F has fielded five, MQM has two and MMA has nominated two candidates. Maximum number of candidates, 11, are from NA 196 RYK V and least are from NA 194 RYK III. Therefore, the election contest is amongst a total of 164 candidates for 19 seats from the district.
