US MIDDAY: sugar slides

Raw sugar futures on ICE Futures US at 1230 GMT. March raw sugar contract fell 0.21 cent to 10.75 cents per lb. Trading from 10.73 to 11.15 cents. Volume at 11,621 lots. Sugar stumbles on investment fund sales because of the strong dollar and weak equity markets, said dealers.
Czarnikow reduced its forecast of 2008/09 sugarcane production in Brazil's main center-south region to 475 million tonnes, from a previous prediction of 485 million tonnes, due to wet weather in August. Tunisia bought 14,000 tonnes of white sugar for February arrival, the government said.
