RTO to enhance its tax net

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) is all set to enhance its tax net up to one million income tax payers during current year as over 0.5 million income tax returns have already been received through the Tax Facilitation Kiosks (TFK).
Official sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday that out of total, some 406900 are salaried persons while around 64,102 returns and some 22000 income statements have been submitted by businessmen.
They said that RTO had received around 0.73 million income tax returns in last year while 0.512 million were salaried persons and rest of them were filed by non-salaried persons. They said that about 50 Tax Facilitation Kiosks (TFK) have been entertaining taxpayers at different prominent business hubs in the city. While, two mobile Tax Facilitation Units (TFU) are educating new taxpayers about the benefits of joining tax net.
The Kiosks and mobile units are also deal with issuance of National Tax Numbers (NTN) and claims of refund and added that RTO has issued around 750 refund cheques to the taxpayers. RTO is striving to achieve the assigned target of over one million returns. They said that the Kiosks have been facilitating taxpayers at their doorstep and convincing them to play their due role in the growth of country's economy.
