The Punjab Labour Minister, Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna has said that evening shift would be started in workers welfare schools of the province in order to accommodate maximum number of workers children in these schools. Moreover, no private student shall be admitted to these schools in future and 100 percent admission of workers' children would be ensured.
While presiding over a meeting regarding the workers welfare Schools held in the workers welfare Board here on Thursday he directed the principals to pay attention towards the promotion of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as well to ensure overall personality development of students instead of making them book worms only.
He further said that in order to ensure extension of education facilities to workers children all over the Province, schools would also be opened in those 19 districts where this facility was not available at present. He said that District Officers Labour in these schools have been directed to suggest suitable sites for the purpose and in case no suitable place was available then suitable building could be hired.
The minister also listened to the problems of school teaching staff and assured that a meeting would be arranged with the Secretary Labour for ensuring a remedy. The Principals of Lahore workers welfare Schools and Director Education of Workers Welfare Board also attended the meeting.
