Government warned of likely suicide attacks

The intelligence agencies have warned of suicide attacks on ministries in the federal capital and airports in different cities including Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore during the current month, sources in the Interior Ministry told Business Recorder on Tuesday.
Intelligence received by Interior Ministry said that attacks are expected to be carried out by fugitives of Taliban, al Qaeda and foreign militants in tribal areas, sources said. Interior Ministry has beefed up security around airports, other government installations and the Secretariat which is already situated in 'red zone', they said.
The Ministry has circulated the information received from different intelligence agencies, and directed police and other law enforcement agencies to remain on 'red alert', and increase the number of personnel guarding government installations. It was also learnt that as per official figures more than 1500 Taliban miscreants have been killed in army operations in Bajaur agency and Swat.
They said that the intelligence agencies have asked the Interior Ministry that the last week of November would be crucial as terrorists have planned suicide attacks at airports in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore and various ministries in Islamabad. They have dispatched suicide bombers to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, sources added.
