Seminar on Indo-Pak ties held

26 Nov, 2008

"Culture of peace must be promoted among the masses. Peace can not exist unless we on our own follow principles in conformity with the idea of peace." These views were presented by Association for Communal Harmony in Asia's Executive Director Dr Pritam Rohila.
Pritam Rohila has spent 40 years in United States and heading this organisation for long. This organisation is working to promote the culture of peace and harmony among the people. Dr Pritam said the land of South Asia was highly rich as far as the production of ideas was concerned.
"There are many great ideas that were produced in South Asia. We have had 13 centuries of togetherness but the question is what has happened to those great ideas of universal brotherhood and peace and love," he added. He said this was very considerable that for the past 60 years a lot of resources had been wasted for confrontational politics between the two countries, adding that culture and history of mindless conflict should end.
"It is true that there are strong reactionary forces that want to stick to the old rivalries. The positive side of this scenario is that both India and Pakistan are coming closer; there are signs and perspective that go in favour of peace," he added.
Dr Pritam was of the opinion that collective responsibility was no responsibility; the real responsibility was individual responsibility. He stressed upon the fact "we have yet to produce the required political will to overshadow the shadows of fear and hatred for this, intelligentsia from both countries should come forward."-PR
