Senior Provincial Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed has assured that before undertaking legislation in health sector, doctors would be given opportunity to present their opinion before the Standing Committee on Health, so that comprehensive steps might be taken to provide health facilities to the masses.
He was talking to a delegation of Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians who called on him in his office, here on Thursday. Dr Tariq Mahmood Mian, Dr Sajjad Ahmed Malik, Dr Masooma Shahid Raza, Dr Saeed Ahmed, Dr Tariq Yasin, Dr Tahir Choudhary and Dr Arif Jehangir were present on the occasion.
The minister said that the present government had given top priority to the health sector. "Doctors can play an important role in extending health facilities to the poor masses," he said. He appealed to the doctors' community to come forward, join hands with the government in this noble cause and offer their services especially in far-flung and deprived areas. Doctors thanked the minister for listening to them and assured their full co-operation to the government.
