Rs 498 million package for promotion of gem sector on the cards

The Ministry of Commerce has hinted at the approval of an amount of Rs 498 million for promotion of gemstone sector and acquisition of 33 kanal land for setting up new building of Gems and Gemological Institute of Pakistan (GGIP).
This was stated by the Director and Incharge of Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) Sher Zaman, while talking with Executive Committee of GGIP, said a press release issued here on Wednesday. The meeting of executive committee of GGIP was held with its Chairman, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi in the chair. The meeting was also attended by Director Incharge TDAP, Mian Sher Zaman and officials of other relevant departments, besides businessmen.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman GGIP, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi expressed happiness over the information provided by Director TDAP. He said it is a welcome development that federal government is intending to spend such a sufficient amount on promotion and development of gemstone sector. The efforts being made by Commerce Ministry for gemstone promotion will yield very positive results and people associate with this business will benefit a lot, he added.-PR
