Pakistan have regained the number 1 spot in the ICC Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) rankings after India clinched three-match T20I series 2-1 against New Zealand on Tuesday.
The host India successfully defended 67 runs target in rain hit game against New Zealand in Thiruvananthapuram's Greenfield International Stadium.
Kohli XI made 67-5 in eight-over game with Manish Pandey hitting 17 off 11 balls and skipper Kohli 13. Though the result could have gone either way with just two balls remaining, New Zealand reached just 61-6 with Colin de Grandhomme making an unbeaten 17.
The result in favor of India helped Pakistan to regain the top spot in the rankings with 4 points difference to New Zealand who are now number 2 side with 120 points. World T20 champions West Indies are on third spot in the rankings with same 120 points.
Earlier New Zealand made a remarkable comeback in the series after suffering 53 runs defeat in the first faceoff. They crushed India by 40 runs in the second T20I to level the series 1-1.
The Kiwis not only won the match but also moved on top spot in the MRF Tyres International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I Rankings.
