Awami National Party (ANP) is resolute against terrorism and has declared fight against terror as a holy war to root out this menace from the country once and for all. "They (terrorists) are cowards, they are being paid from others and are working for their malicious designs," ANP Spokesman Senator Zahid said on Thursday.
He expressed firm resolve that the dastardly acts of terrors would not deter the party from its chosen path of protecting and promoting the rights of Pushtuns. He also described war on terror as a 'third world war' given the interests and operations of various agencies of different countries in Afghanistan and Pakistan. "This war is taking serious toll on Pakistan and its people," he said and underscored the need for unity to foil the nefarious acts of terrorists.
ANP spokesman said his party had two choices when it assumed power; either surrender before the terrorists or to take on them firmly, and we opted for the former." He said that ANP has lost 500-600 workers in this war, which also targeted high-profile party leadership including Asfandyar Wali Khan and Members Provincial Assemblies. "We are as courageous as ever and we are standing eyeball to eyeball to the terrorists," Zahid Khan said.
