The rupee managed to extend its overnight gains against dollar and euro on the currency marke4t on Thursday, dealers said. The rupee picked up five paisa versus dollar at 85.10 for buying and it rose by six paisa for selling at 85.15, they added.
Indian rupee was at Rs 45.48 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.0380 in terms of the greenback and Chinese yuan was trading at 6.5881 in relation to dollar.

According to the moneychangers, the diminishing dollar demand and supply situation helped local currency appreciation in the open market. The dollar commenced trading at Rs 85.50 and Rs 85.80, as its buying and selling rates but because of dull buying trend it could not sustain. At the end of trading the dollar move down and closed at Rs 85.30 and Rs 85.60 on buying and selling counters respectively, they added.
Similarly, the British pound remained under pressure in the open market on account of lack of buying support. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 136.60 and Rs 137.30, as compared to overnight closing of Rs 136.70 and Rs 137.50, as its buying and selling rates, respectively, they said.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.15 (selling) against the same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.15 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling) against the same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling).
