Barrister Syed Masood Kausar took oath as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) here on Thursday. The oath taking ceremony was held at the lawn of Governor House. Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal administered the oath to the new Governor. Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir read commission of appointment issued by President Asif Ali Zardari. Large number of people, including politicians, judges, senators, ministers, MNAs, MPAs, government officials, lawyers and mediamen attended the ceremony.
Talking to newsmen after taking oath of office, Governor Masood Kausar said that restoring peace in tribal area would be his priority. He said he would fully concentrate on the development of Fedreally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as the region had received much importance from the founding leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He said he would work with the leadership of Awami National Party (ANP) to put the province on the path of development and prosperity.
Senior Minister Bashir Bilour, speaking on the occasion, termed the appointment of Barrister Masood Kausar as Governor a good omen, saying that such a person was appointed on the post who had close relations with the people of the province. Bashir Bilour said they would jointly work with Masood Kausar for the resolution of problems of the province and FATA, especially militancy.
