Islamabad Police arrested 33 persons including 23 wanted offenders and five suspects for their alleged involvement in different crimes, recovering two pistols, 32 bottles of liquor, 400 gram heroin and 630 gram opium from their possession, said a spokesman of Capital Police here on Tuesday. Station House Officer Aabpara, Mohammad Hussain Lasi led police team, which held search operation in different areas in its jurisdiction and arrested five suspects.
Aabpara Police also nabbed four persons for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and possessing illegal weapons. Responding to a tipoff Secretariat Police arrested a bootlegger for having 32 bottles of liquor. Tarnol police during routine patrolling stopped three persons namely Janullah, Syed Ali and a woman Perveen and on search police recovered one revolver (32-bore), 400 gram heroin and 630 gram opium from them respectively.
Sabzi Mandi Police nabbed an accused Ibrahim for having one pistol (30-bore) and two live rounds. Meanwhile, Islamabad Police detained 23 wanted offenders in drive against criminals on the instruction of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan during last week.
IGP Islamabad said that task had been assigned to heads of 15 police stations to arrest proclaimed offenders and their performance will be reviewed in this regard on weekly basis. He said that no one is above the law and directed to ensure arrest of those involved in crimes of heinous nature. Five proclaimed offenders, 18 court absconders were arrested in this period. Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that this hunt is being carried out in the district that would continue till the arrest of substantial proclaimed offenders.
