13 May, 2012

Sindh Assembly's Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges has 'summoned' PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on May 14 to give his opinion on the privilege motion moved against him by PPP lawmaker Imran Zafar Laghari, Business Recorder learnt here on Saturday.
On the directives of Ghulam Mujadid Isran, the Chairman of committee, Secretary Sindh Assembly Hadi Bux Buriro, who is also Secretary of the committee, has called a meeting of this committee on May 14, at the committee room-1 of assembly's building. Well-informed sources told Business Recorder that the committee had also asked the mover of privilege motion Imran Zafar Laghari to present before it his opinion, sources said. The committee meeting would be chaired by Ghulam Mujadid Isran, the head of committee while, MPAs Syed Javaid Shah, Faseeh Shah, Marvi Rashdi and others will attend this very important meeting, sources said.
MPA Imran Zafar Laghari tabled this privilege motion against Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in March 2011, which was referred to the Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges, sources said. A copy of privilege motion obtained by Business Recorder states: "I do hereby give notice under rule 58, and 59, of the rules of procedure of provincial assembly of Sindh to move the following [this] privilege motion. I being, the public representative/member of the provincial assembly of Sindh do hereby move a privilege motion that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has used derogatory remarks for the honourable members of the Sindh Assembly during a press conference on March 13, 2011 while further criticising the cultural attire of the people of Sindh reflecting his degrading and bitter attitude, Chaudhry has greatly hurt the sentiments of the people of Sindh."
Sources in PPP told this scribe that the party had decided to launch a campaign against PML-N in Sindh and a discussion on privilege motion against PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was part of this campaign. Recently, PML-N staged a "rally" in Larkana district, the home district of Bhutto family and the stronghold of PPP while, PML-N leadership also assigned Mumtaz Bhutto to negotiate with independent feudal lords of various districts with a view to inviting them to join PML-N. After this meeting, the committee would recommend to the Speaker Sindh Assembly over whether the mover could table a privilege motion in the next Assembly session.
