Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said 2.5 million students both boys and girls are getting computer education every year under the Chief Minister's IT promotion programme. He expressed these views at a quiz programme of government schools at Children Library Complex on Saturday.
The Minister said the allocation for Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has been enhanced from Rs 2 billion to Rs 8 billion. He said the literacy rate of the province has increased to 62 percent due to education-friendly programmes of the Chief Minister, adding the government is striving hard to achieve 88 percent literacy by 2015.
