Failure in resolving power crisis: PML-Q to consider parting ways with government: PERVEZ ELAHI

14 May, 2012

Senior Federal Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has said that his party would consider parting ways with the government if Pakistan People's Party (PPP) did not resolve the problem of load shedding.
Addressing workers' convention of his party here on Sunday, Elahi said that he and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had asked the government to resolve the power crisis on priority basis. "We have requested the leadership of PPP to give up other work and focus on electricity crisis. We have told them that they would not be able to go into elections if the problem of load shedding remained unresolved," he added.
Pervez Elahi said that the formula given by Shujaat Hussain could help overcome the power crisis. He criticised Punjab government for not initiating any new project for electricity generation during the last four years.
He said that four projects of electricity generation were started when his party was in power in the province. Pervez Elahi was critical of wasting billion of rupees on 'Sasti Rooti' scheme by the PML-N government.
"We initiated rescue 1122 service in the province and many other projects for the welfare of the people," he said. He asked the people to compare the performance of present government with his tenure.
