Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday condemned the recent increase in electricity price and demanded that the government should immediately retract its decision. He also warned the government not to force the party to initiate a massive street movement and civil disobedience.
He said the government's failure to resolve most pressing issues, including circular debt, increasing generation capacity and improving collections, has led to the present energy crisis. "The present government has broken all prior records of corruption and the Rental Power scam is clear evidence of the same. Unprecedented price hikes under the present regime will force citizens to resort to power theft," he added.
