The killing spree in the city continued unabated on Friday, as fourteen more people including political activists fell prey to the targeted killings during last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 34 in three days. According to details, three men namely Imran, 32, Abdul Basit, 45, and Shoaib, 42, were shot dead by unidentified assailants in FB Area in the wee hours of Friday in the remits of Samanabad police station.
Police said that the deceased had come from Balochistan to receive bodies of their two relatives who were killed in Baldia area on May 13 and 16. He said that unknown people riding motorcycles targeted an ambulance and yellow cab taxi with indiscriminate gunfire near Sohrab Goth, when they were returning back after collecting the bodies from Edhi morgue. As a result Imran, Abdul Basit and Shoaib were killed while Zulaikha Bibi, 50, and Gulam Mustafa injured.
In another incident, two bullet-riddled bodies were found from Baldia No 5 near Turk Muhala in the limits of Baldia Town police station. The deceased were identified as Mureed Baksh, 22 and Bashir, 25. A young man was shot dead by unidentified armed men near Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth area. Separately, a bullet-riddled body of a young man was found in Liaquatabad in the limits of Super Market police station.
Four persons including a minor were shot dead over petty dispute at Mansehra Colony in the limits of Sharafi Goth police station. The deceased were identified as Fazal, Siraj and Anwar Sher and minor Ayaz. Police said two groups brawled after Friday prayer outside Bismillah mosque in Manshera Colony, Sharfai Goth on shoe theft issue, which led to killing of four people.
Police said that one, identified as police constable Farooq, attacked the house with gunfire, which resulted in the deaths of four people. Police arrested the accused and six others and started investigation A body of a minor was recorded from a deserted place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. A man identified as Abdul Qadir was shot dead in Gul Bai, Sher Shah Area and another man Sabir, 25, was gunned down in Shah Latif Town.
