Budget fiscal year 2012-13: APNS urges government to incorporate proposals

The All Pakistan Newspapers Society urges upon the Federal Government to incorporate its proposals in forthcoming Federal Budget to salvage the newspaper industry from the impact of economic meltdown and financial crunch, stated a press release of the society.
Masood Hamid, Secretary General, All Pakistan Newspapers Society, has stated that the Executive Committee of the APNS at its meeting held on May 14, 2012 presided over by its President, Sarmad Ali discussed the issues confronted by the newspaper industry. The members of the Executive Committee gathered across the country adopted a resolution wherein the Federal Government was requested to incorporate APNS proposals in the forthcoming Federal Budget relating to different taxes on the industry especially, the General Sales Tax on imported inputs of newspapers, exemption from deduction and withholding of sales tax from invoices of registered suppliers, exemption of minimum tax under-section 113 of the Income Tax Ordinance, Collection of Tax and Imports, etc. The Executive Committee authorised the President and the Secretary General to form committees for the year 2012-13.-PR
