A Cyprus flagged carrier bulk cargo ship was arrested on Saturday at Karachi port on court's orders over dispute between the shipper and consignee, harbour officials said. A Cyprus flagged carrier-Captain Ore docked at Karachi port on May 6, Sunday between berth 12-B and berth 13-B at East Wharf of the harbour. The vessel had departed from Abu Dhabi's port of Al-Saeed to voyage to Karachi, according to officials.
"A dispute between the consignee and shipper brought about the ship's arrest and after fully discharging the fertiliser at harbour the authorities will steer it towards moorage to keep it moored till court orders for its release," they said. Ship has so far discharged about 31,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer out of the total 37,000 metric tonnes, they said. The next destination of the ship could not be ascertained as officials said the vessel skipper would decide after loading cargo from Karachi.
