One person was killed while 4 others sustained gunshots while resisting an anti-encroachment operation on the mountainous area of Ganjo Takkar near SITE Latifabad here on Sunday. Two bulldozers and a double cabin brought by the anti encroachment team were completely burnt.
The Anti Encroachment Cell assisted by the police was trying to remove encroachments from a village inhabited by people of the Chandio community when the armed exchange of fire broke out. The deceased was identified as Ahmed Khan Chandio, 50, and the injured included Shamman Chandio, Manzoor Ali Chandio, Abdul Majeed Chandio and Sadiq Ali Chanio. All the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital. Later, the people of Chandio community led by Deedar Chandio demonstrated and blocked the Hyderabad-Tando Muhammad Khan road by staging a sit-in for 2 hours.
