Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Sunday said that it was the duty of judges to decide cases on merit in accordance with law and constitution without fear or favour while the lawyers were obliged to provide proper assistance to them.
He said this while talking to a 25-member delegation of Multan High Court and District Bar Association, headed by Muhammad Ashraf Khan, President High Court Bar and Sajid Azdee Sunpal, Vice President District Bar. The Chief Justice said the Bench and Bar were important part of judiciary and they should strive hard for administration of justice in the society.
He appreciated the unprecedented struggle of the legal fraternity for upholding the rule of law, supremacy of the constitution and independence of judiciary in the country and expected that they would continue to play their role in the quick dispensation of justice.
The delegation admired the role of the CJP in the enforcement of fundamental rights of the citizens and his proactive role in ensuring accountability and good governance in the state. They also felicitated the CJ on his nomination for the 'International Jurists Award 2012' for his unique and tremendous contribution in the field of administration of justice. They also discussed different issues and problems faced by them in their profession.
The delegation assured the Chief Justice of their full support and co-operation and expressed the hope that administration of justice under his bold and benign leadership and motivation would further improve. They also invited the CJ to visit Multan High Court and District Bars to inaugurate Judicial Complex.
