Reduction in gas prices: government should act upon Ogra decision: APCNGA

22 May, 2012

All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has urged the government to act upon the decision of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) which has approved reduction in gas prices by up to Rs 47 per Million British Thermal Unit (MMBTU). Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Central Chairman APCNGA while talking to reporters here on Monday said that the government should provide a sigh of relief to poor masses by reducing gas prices as the Regulatory Authority has already approved it.
"Government should roll back Cess tax on CNG retail price and should take back the illegal increase of Rs 11.50 per kg in CNG price for consumers", Ghiyas Paracha demanded. "If government is not able to act on the decisions of the regulatory body then government should close down the department", he added.
Prices of all the commodities have registered a phenomenal increase during the tenure of the present government. It is for the first time that Ogra has approved a decrease in gas price which will give a sigh of relief to the worst inflation stricken people of the country, he added. He said that the government should also start campaign and give support to CNG fuel like other countries including USA, England, European countries and Far Eastern countries for cleaner environment and pollution free air in urban areas.
