KFHA approves Employees (Service Rules) 2012

The Board of Directors of Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) on Tuesday approved the Employees (Service Rules) 2012, Method of Recruitment and Organisational Chart of the authority, harbour officials said. The Board also took a number of decisions at a meeting which Sindh Fisheries Minister, Zahid Bhurgari, chaired at Karachi fish harbour, officials said.
The meeting reviewed the planned uplift projects and passed the revised Master Plan to execute it to develop the fish harbour on modern lines, they said. A committee which was formed to review the uplift projects including master plan, a weigh bridge, a Saw Mill, a fibre glass boat manufacturing plant, a fish meal plant, an ice plant, an oil dispensation station presented its recommendations to the board during the meeting, officials said.
"These projects will be carried out at the fish harbour while a river osmosis plant which is part of the master plan will be set up with a view to cater to the harbour's needs for water," they pointed out. Besides, they said that plots for world standard of seafood processing plants had also been identified with an aim to attract foreign investment in the country's largest fish harbour.
They said the administrator and other members of the advisory committee assured the Board to get the Fishermen Co-operative Society (FCS) implement the recommendations of a committee which has been formed to settle the conflicting issues between the society and authority.
They said the committee also maintained that the all outstanding dues of the KFHA against the FCS will be cleared soon. The Board also approved the appointment of consultants for upcoming commercial projects, besides health insurance facilities for employees of the KFHA.
Officials said the KFHA would hire services of a Chartered Accountant firm for the audit of accounts of the authority. The Board discussed the modes of replacement the existing lethal tail-cod nets, as it announced to notify the directives in this regard shortly. Those attended the meeting included Director General, Marine Fisheries Department, Director General, Sindh Fisheries, Administrator FCS, Director Operations Maritime Security Agency, Director Fisheries (R&D) Sindh, representatives of Commissioner Karachi, KPT and seafood exporters. Earlier, Managing Director KFHA, Abdul Ghani Jokhio briefed the meeting about the authority's upcoming projects and other key matters.
