Due to effective strategy evolved by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and untiring efforts of the government departments concerned, dengue situation is fully under control. This was revealed in a Cabinet Committee meeting held on Wednesday to review the pace of implementation on the steps taken by different departments for dengue prevention and control.
Besides elected representatives of Lahore, Commissioner and DCO Lahore, Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and other senior officers of various departments including, Health, Education, Local Government, Information and Culture, Auqaf and Labour departments attended the meeting.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafiq is also participating in dengue control measures. He also directed the administration of LGH, Children Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Services Hospital and Railways Carein Hospital Lahore to further improve the status of cleanliness and removal of stagnant water from the premises of these hospitals.
Commissioner Lahore Jawad Rafiq Malik gave presentation on indoor and outdoor Vector Surveillance, de-silting of sewer lines and drains, lifting of solid waste from different areas of the city by LWMC and cleanliness of Lahore. He also briefed the meeting about the conversation with the railway authorities in Lahore for removing heaps of garbage and solid waste along with the railway tracks and de-watering of ponds of water in Shahdara.
Additional Secretary Health Technical Dr Anwar Janjua while briefing the participants of the meeting said that so far maximum suspected dengue cases have been reported from Data Ganj Bakhsh Town and Ravi Town. It was also informed that Auqaf department is also arranging special lectures of Ulema on dengue awareness in Juma sermons and other occasions where the religious scholars talk about the preventive measures and importance of cleanliness. Special Secretary Local Government informed that the inspection of tyre shops, water filtration plants, junkyards and graveyards in continue and registration of tyre shops is also being conducted.
