The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is expecting to generate Rs 20 million from its 9th flagship international "MY-KARACHI, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition 2012," which is scheduled for July 13-15, 2012 at Expo Centre Karachi. Last year the chamber generated similar amount from the same event.
The chamber has booked four halls of Expo Centre out of which hall No 1 will have 27 stalls of Rs 46.20 lacs. Hall No 2 will have a total of 28 stalls of Rs 73 lacs, hall No 3 34 stalls of Rs 46 lacs while hall No 4 will have 115 stalls majority of them reserved for women entrepreneur to be given on discounted rates. The chamber is expected to generate Rs 15 lacs from hall No 4.
The chamber has designed "MY-KARACHI, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition 2012" to act as the avenue for interactive (B2B) business-to-business linkages and (B2C) business to consumer relationship. My-Karachi Exhibition is a showcase platform for domestic and global products and services to small traders, large industries, manufacturers, service providers, multinational companies, financial institutions and social welfare agencies of Pakistan.
The chamber started this mega exhibition in 2004 with the initiative of Siraj Kassam Teli, the then President KCCI, which received acclamation at both National & International forums. In view of its significance and magnitude, the government of Sindh co-host this momentous exhibition every year. Core objective of this mega event is to project and promote the true and real picture of Karachi and Pakistan with an emphasis on Karachi as centre of commercial activities as well as hub of financial, economic and industrial activities of Pakistan.
It would be a complete exhibition in all aspects encompassing the interests of corporate sector as well as the consumers while truly representing Pakistan in terms of cultural cross sections in a unique urban scenario. The organisers of the exhibition said that Karachi was recognised and valued as diversified fastest growing city and a gateway for Central Asia.
However, its image was tarnished through adverse propaganda by the Western media, and the state of affairs demand that Karachiites specially the business and industrial community to come forward to combat and rebuild the image of the metropolis in particular & Pakistan in general and make this event successful with flying colours. The organisers hope that the event will portray the true picture of Karachi as a peaceful city and the economic hub of Pakistan as well as act as a successful avenue to promote trade and industry.
