UET, PTC hold 'final year project' exhibition

The University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar in collaboration with Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) Ltd organised a final year project exhibition 2012 for graduating mechanical engineers. Muhammad Sarwar Khan, Advisor Finance & Planning, UET Peshawar formally inaugurated the exhibition.
The Chairman Mechanical Engineering Department Syed Javed Tajiq while speaking as chief guest at the opening ceremony said they are very proud of our students for showing excellence in their work, spanning so many different aspects of our chosen profession: "engineering". A total 24 projects were exhibited prepared by students with their complete involvement of hard work, dedication and innovative ideas", he informed. He stressed industry to take interest in indigenous projects which offer solutions addressing the local needs.
Final year project spreads over both semesters of the final-year, and culminates in classification of their degree of engineering. Students are required to acquire the skills over the course of engineering degree. Amongst 24 projects, three best projects included, "Design and fabrication of Small Scale Bio-Diesel Extraction Plant" with first position, "Conversion of Window Type AC to Split AC for Performance Evaluation stood second , while third position was grabbed by "Design and Fabrication of Solar Car with Solar Tracking and Button Gearing System." The winners of these projects were conferred with cash awards.
Malik Muhammad Usman, Manager PTC, while addressing on the occasion appreciated the students' skilled work, saying that in this process students gained full capability for technical research, the design and actuation of experiments. "It is this work which marks the qualification of graduate engineers, and gives them the qualities required to undertake projects and tasks expected of engineering profession."
