HYDERABAD: VC Isra University Presided the Webinar on World Rabies Day on the topic of ending rabies deaths in Pakistan a way forward: addressed by experts from Canada and all over world Prof Dr Nazir Ashraf Laghari, Vice Chancellor, Isra University presided the webinar.
He stressed for national rabies prevention program and availability of rabies vaccine in big and small health facilities as dog bite cases are happening in a large number in Pakistan. He announced rabies treatment and research centre in Isra University and advised for formal preparation of proposal for such centre.
The theme for World Rabies Day 2020 is “End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate” you can help by keeping pets up to date on their rabies vaccination, and collaborating with doctors, veterinarians, educators, community workers, policy makers, and others in your community to raise awareness around rabies prevention and control.
The keynote speaker Dr Nasir Jamal Pathan, a public health expert from Canada in his presentation showed slides staring with no bite, no rabies. He advised long and short training coursed for medical and paramedical staff in Pakistan. He further told that in USA only 3 cases of rabies occurred in comparison to 30000 cases in Asia.
