'Anyone not wearing face masks in public places can be arrested by Police': DC Islamabad

Islamabad on Wednesday imposed Section 144 on the wearing of face masks in the capital as the second coronavirus wave hits the country.

In a tweet, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat said that anyone found not wearing a mask will be arrested. Section 144 has been imposed for a period of two months, the notification said.

In the last 24 hours, Islamabad reported 119 cases and one death. So far, Pakistan has reported 330,200 cases and 6759 deaths.

Earlier, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) made it compulsory for all citizens to wear a face mask in public places. It was also decided to make face masks mandatory in both government and private sector offices.
