A micro smart lockdown has been imposed in over 830 neighborhoods of Punjab after a total of 1,416 coronavirus cases were reported from these areas.
According to a local media report, the residents of these areas have been asked to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days. In Lahore, which has reported the highest number of cases, 435 areas have been sealed. In Faisalabad 34 areas have been sealed, 37 in Bahawalpur, 14 in Gujranwala and 47 areas have been sealed in Rawalpindi.
In the last 24 hours, Punjab reported 283 new coronavirus cases and three deaths. These new cases have taken the provincial tally to 104,554. Punjab has reported 2,365 fatalities.
Last week, 10 streets were sealed in Islamabad after the capital city reported its highest single-day rise in cases in the last two months. Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat said that these streets will be reopened once the health teams give clearance after completing testing, tracing and quarantine of suspected cases.
