ISLAMABAD: An important session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs got postponed on Thursday due to lack of interest by the lawmakers, who did not turn up to the panel's meeting despite, prior notice.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and chairman of the committee Malik Ehsanullah Tiwana had to wait for around 20 minutes, so that the required number of the committee members turn up to the meeting, obligatory for constituting the quorum to formally assume the session. However, the chairman had to postpone the meeting due to the lack of interest by the committee members.
The committee meeting was scheduled for Thursday at 11am and Foreign Minister Qureshi was invited to brief the members on the latest situation of Afghanistan as well as expectations from Pakistan by the major powers in bringing stability in Afghanistan.
