LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will start disbursing income tax refunds of Rs100 million and below for Tax Year 2020 by the end of second quarter, said sources.
They said the Board has registered historic growth in revenue collection of 36.5% from Jul-Nov of the FY2021-22 by collecting net revenue of Rs2,314 billion during the first five months of the current fiscal year against a set target of Rs2,016 billion, exceeding by Rs298 billion.
The revenue collection is in surplus and the Board would like to release refund claims of Rs100 billion and below at the earliest, they added. Also, they have pointed out that the Board would be receiving advance tax and admitted tax during the month of December that would put it into a further comfortable position to pay refunds.
It may be noted that the Board had sought information from all the LTOs about two weeks earlier, followed by the verification of qualified ones.
Over 2000 units of LTOs throughout the country have verified the claims against the parameters including the nature of income losses, tax credit claims under section 65B and 65D of the Income Tax Ordinance, payment of super tax and minimum tax liabilities, deductions made under section 148 and section 153(1)(a) of the Ordinance, proration as per law and refund adjustments etc.
