Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 99,302 tonnes of cargo comprising 75,141 tonnes of import cargo and 24,161 tonnes of export cargo including 924 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 75,141 tonnes comprised of 780 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,927 tonnes of general cargo; 22,068 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,568 tonnes of DAP; 16,500 tonnes of coal and 48,366 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,161 tonnes comprised of 10,262 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of general cargo; 720 tonnes of cement and 13,149 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 924 containers comprising 167 containers import and 757 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 39 of 20's and nil of 40's of loaded while 128 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 202 of 20's and 212 of 40's loaded containers while and 17 of 20's 57 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. Five ships namely Lodestar Genesis, Samraa Al Khalej, Reecon Emre, Martin and Hanjin Durban carrying two oil tankers, two general cargo ships and one container ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz Marcampania, APL Brisbane, Martin, Madrid Trader, Akeraios, Frontier Hachi and Vinalines Brave with two container ships, two general cargo ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. A general cargo ship namely Madrid Trader sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while six ships namely APL Brisbane, Marcampania, President Adams, Ital Moderna, Electa and Frontier Hachi with four container ships and two oil tankers are expected to sail on Thursday.
Four vessels viz Shayan-1, Tamina, Four Island and Ginga Lanner carrying two container ships, one LSF oil tanker and one base oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while another vessel viz UASC Shuwaikh with containers is due to arrive on Thursday.

The total export cargo of 56,811 tonnes includes 8,641 tonnes of cement; 5,295 tonnes of corn; 2,462 tonnes of rice and 40,413 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 3,830 containers comprising 1,703 containers import and 2,127 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
Two ships namely CV Sealand Washington and CV Najran carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Nedlloyd Mercator and MV Hector with containers and rice are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of ten vessels viz CV Sealand Washington, CV Najran, CV Nedlloyd Mercator, MV AMS Pegasus-II, MV Sapphire-II, MV Heckor, MV Outrivaling-2, MV SFL Kent, MT Fuji Galaxy and MT Olympic Serenity are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, corn, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Baltic, Akaki, Unicorn Emerald and Harsanadi with furnace oil, wheat and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Verdi, MT Camelot and MT Harsanadi with containers, LPG and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Gas Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday. A container ship namely CV Belgica is due to arrive on Thursday.
