Creation of new provinces: Punjab Assembly passes resolution against commission

Punjab Assembly in its 40th session on Wednesday passed a resolution against formation of a commission by federal government for creation of new provinces. The resolution asked for formation of a new national commission for the purpose of forming new provinces. The passed resolution was moved by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
Law Minister averring on the issues said they rejected Zardari Commission on new provinces and wanted that a national commission be constituted in this regard. There was rumpus in the assembly even during the day as opposition members shouted slogans and demanded formation of a new South Punjab Province.
In the midst of slogan raising scuffles also occurred between members of opposition and members of treasury where opposition legislators Simil Kamran and others alleged rough dealing by treasury members. During the session Punjab Assembly passed 'The Information Technology University of Punjab Bill 2012'.This bill had been sent back by governor for reconsideration. Punjab Law Minister during the day talking to journalists said that session was hampered by certain female members of opposition. He said that democratic traditions were greatly being harmed by opposition attitude. Punjab Assembly Speaker later adjourned the session sine die.
