MQM activist among eight killed in city

At least eight persons including a senior worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and man and his wife were killed while senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) sustained bullet injures in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis, here on Monday.
According to police and rescue sources, a 50-year-old Kalimullah Kalim son of Sheikh Banu Behari was gunned down when unidentified armed riders sprayed him with bullets outside his residence located at Sector 11-L in the limits of Orangi Town police station. Police said the victim, who was employed in KWSB, was an active worker of MQM and in-charge unit 118-A, Orangi Town. Following his killing, tension prevailed in the area where all shops and markets were closed due to uncertain situation. Police said the deceased was the father of four.
A 30-year-old man namely Raees Khan son of Ajab Khan and his uncle Khan Pasand Khan son of Gul Pasand Khan were killed in an armed assault at G-7 bus stand located at Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town in the jurisdiction of Mochko police station. Police said the deceased Khan Pasand was the owner while Raees was a manager of the said bus stand and added that they might have been murdered over personal enmity as Khan registered a complaint against his relatives some two days ago. However, the police sources said they were killed over the refusal of paying extortion. They said the victims, who hailed from Swat, were the residents of Rasheedabad and Gulshan-e-Ghazi.
Unidentified armed men claimed a life of Ehtasham Ahmad, 30, son of Syed Niaz Ahmad in the limits of Mominabad police station. Police said the incident took place near Government Girls College located in Sector 11-E, Surjani Town and added that he might have been killed over monetary issue. They said he was the father of two and residing at Khuda ki Basti.
In another incident, unknown armed men barged into a house located near Multani Hotel, Madina Town in the limits of Shah Latif police station and sprayed a volley of bullets on a person namely Rait Khan, 45, son of Sikandar Khan and his wife Parveen. Resultantly, both victims received multiple bullets and died on spot. Police suspected that the family members might have murdered them over property issue. Similarly, two persons were killed while a senior leader of PPP Ameer Chandio sustained bullet injures in two separate firing incidents at Orangi Town and Solider Bazar police limits, respectively.
