Governor Sindh inspects work on uplift projects

Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan on Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to immediately complete the construction work of Korangi Causeway, Korangi Crossing and CBM Drain. The Governor was visiting different ongoing development works in the city. He was accompanied by KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed, Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh, and Managing Director KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid.
The Governor also gave instructions for immediate completion of Korangi Causeway Extension Project, which is to be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 148 million. He said that the Korangi Crossing should be re-constructed with a new and improved design.
Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon while giving briefing to the Governor informed that the construction and rehabilitation work of Korangi Causeway would be completed within two months. He further said that the road would be widened to 18 feet. During the Governor's visit of Korangi Crossing Intersection, the Administrator Karachi informed that the project would be completed with a cost of Rs 20 million.
He further said that Korangi Crossing would be made signal-free to ensure smooth flow of traffic. The Governor also visited the central office of Pakistan Tannery Association and directed to complete the construction of roads in the Tannery Zone with improved drainage system. He said KMC and KW&SB should adopt a joint strategy in this connection so that development works in the area could be carried out in a systematic way. The Governor directed the M D Water Board to ensure continuous supply of water to the zone. Chairman PTA Khurshid Ahmed, industrialists Zahid Hussain, Fawad, Jawad and others were also present on the occasion. Ibad also visited the culvert being constructed near CBM with a cost of Rs 18 million and directed to expedite work on the project.
