KARACHI: Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) & former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Zubair Motiwala has advised All Pakistan Memon Federation (APMF) to take advantage of the facilities being offered by Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and form some kind of a consortium to acquire land for carrying out agricultural production as food security, that is one of the biggest issues globally.
Exchanging views with a delegation of APMF via Zoom during their visit to Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Motiwala said that this step would help APMF in engaging the youth in agriculture business and enable our youngsters to stand on their feet rather than look for jobs after completing IT trainings and other programs being provided by APMF. “If APMF expresses interest, the Karachi Chamber will certainly arrange a meeting with SIFC authorities at the earliestâ€, he assured.
Zubair Motiwala further stated that APMF has undoubtedly been doing a splendid job by arranging finances for marriages, providing IT trainings, supporting healthcare, sports and educational activities etc. which will be supported by KCCI. “We pledge to fully advocate any issue being faced by APMF in front of all the decision makers in Islamabad so that this institution could uninterruptedly serve Karachi.â€
He opined that although this was a very good step but the APMF should come up with some kind of a unique idea which focuses on enabling our youth to stand on its own feet rather than looking for job. He also advised APMF to collaborate with international IT service providers so that our youngsters could find a good career in the IT sector rather than working as freelancers.
President KCCI Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh, while welcoming members of APMF delegation, acknowledged the invaluable contribution being made by Memon community in the economic development of Pakistan, besides participating immensely in KCCI’s activities and giving valuable inputs for enabling business environment. “It is heartening to see that Memon Federation has not only been promoting educational activities but many other activities, as well, including sports, healthcare, housing, employment etc. besides extending financial assistance to the needy families for marriages of their daughters..
He said our doors are always open for any kind of assistance to the people in distress. To deal with any law and order issue, they can also approach PCLC and the recently activated Rangers Monitoring & Complaint Cell for help.
President All Pakistan Memon Federation (APMF) M Shabbir Haroon, in his remarks, informed that APMF was actively engaged in resolving issues for the betterment of society. “We have established universities, colleges, labs and hospitals whereas work is under way to provide sponsorships and discounts to 2.5 million people of the community through non-Zakat funds. We want to broaden APMF’s scope by facilitating everyone instead of remaining confined to less-privileged people only.â€, he said, adding that renowned public figures like Abdul Sattar Edhi, Chairman Saylani Welfare Trust Muhammad Bashir Farooq and many others were the pillars of Memon community.
