LAHORE: SM Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief, United Business Group (FPCCI-UBG) has appealed to the government to announce a comprehensive winter package for entire industries to mitigate the challenges faced by the sector.
However, UBG cautioned that any conditional eligibility criteria tied to incremental electricity consumption last year would unfairly exclude many industries. “Several units did not have gas supply connections and thus had relied on electricity usage alone, thus making it impossible for them to meet the condition of incremental usage,” Tanveer explained.
Therefore, he said, UBG demands that the government offer a special winter power tariff package without conditions of any incremental usage over earlier consumption, ensuring equal access to all industries. This inclusive approach will boost employment and economic stability.
“We urge the government to prioritize the well-being of the entire industry, rather than creating unnecessary distinctions,” Tanveer emphasized.
He assured the government that he would remain committed to collaborating with the government to promote Pakistan’s economic growth and industrial competitiveness.
