29 Dec, 2012

All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) on Friday asked the government to make the business community a part of the team while formulating foreign and monetary policies. "In the developed world, governments do make business communities part of the process while formulating foreign and financial policies," said AKTI Chairman Atiq Mir.
He suggested that the government should also appoint members of the business community as diplomats to strengthen trade ties with the respective countries. "The government needs to adopt serious attitude towards strengthening of the economy, as the country needs drastic and clear economic policies with inclusion of all stakeholders," he said.
He alleged the finance ministry of designing economy policies in line with the dictation of international monetary institutions. "The country needs independent polices, which should be formulated in consultation with the business community," he added. Mir urged the FBR to take the business community into confident before making taxation policies.
