Rain, drainage water Hamza visits low-lying areas

PML-N Central leader and MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif visited various low-lying areas after heavy rain and reviewed the drainage of rainy water on Saturday. Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yaseen, Commissioner Lahore, MD WASA and other concerned officers accompanied Hamza Shahbaz Sharif. On the occasion, he directed WASA MD and all concerned officers to utilise all possible resources for immediate disposal of water.
Talking to media Lakshmi Chowk, Hamza said the problem of disposal of water from Lakshmi Chowk and some areas of walled city is more than 50 years old and a long-term policy is needed for its permanent solution. He said billions of rupees are required for completion of a comprehensive draining project of walled city.
He assured that PML-N government would make its best efforts for resolving this basic problem of the citizens during five years' term. "All low lying areas are continuously monitored by central control room set up at DCO office during rain, and water disposal machinery and concerned officers immediately came to the field. Ministers, assembly members and civil administration also effectively monitor the water disposal operation for saving the citizens from hardships," he added.
