Solar power plant to be installed in Cholistan: minister

Punjab government has planned to install a solar power plant in Cholistan at 500 acre land with the help of China, said Sher Ali Khan, Punjab Minister for Water and Power. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Tesla Solar Manufacturing Plant here on Sunday, the Minister maintained that the agreement for construction of solar plant would be signed with a Chinese company, which is arriving Pakistan on Monday.
He further stated that an energy conference would also be convened in Lahore in July 25 and investors would be invited to make investment in Pakistan energy sector. The Minister stated that the government could not resolve the energy problems alone and the people have also to contribute by saving and opting for alternative resources of energy. He said that that solar energy was being utilised across the world and Germany was producing 22000 MW electricity through solar. "We have to explore alternate resources of energy to deal with the challenge of electricity," he added.
The Minister urged the people to cooperate with the government in saving electricity. He said that energy policy would be unveiled by the government soon, which would not only provide incentives to the investors to attract them in energy sector of the country but also deal with the concerns of common man.
The Minister said that all the alternative resources would be explored for energy generation to minimise the increasing gap of demand and supply.
Amir Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Industries, said that Tesla was one of the specialised engineering and manufacturing companies in Pakistani private sector. He said that the company was heavily investing in design, development and indigenization of solar components during the last two years.
