IGP for formation of Ulema's peace committees

IG Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali directed the police officials to constitute peace committees comprising religious scholars from all schools of thought at Police Range and district levels so that Ulema can play their role in maintaining law and order and removing any misunderstandings created by anti-social elements. The IGP Sindh issued this directive during a meeting with an eight-member delegation of the Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) which led by Qari Usman met the provincial police chief at the Central Police Office, here on Thursday.
The IGP said Ulema and the public also have the responsibility to help maintain law and order. He urged religious leaders to assist police for the promotion of religious harmony. He directed the police officers to immediately form peace committees and then convene a meeting in this regard. He also sought a detailed report on the implementation of these directives.
Ghulam Haider Jamali also sought a detailed report about the investigation into the cases of incidents of religious nature happened this year so far. He called for expediting investigation into murder cases and for taking all possible steps to arrest murder accused.
