Several English Premier League clubs have emerged as possible buyers of Australian side Newcastle Jets, the owner said on Friday. Coal tycoon Nathan Tinkler, now Singapore-based, is looking to offload the team and said there had been plenty of interest in the A-League outfit. "We're talking to a number of (English) Premier League clubs and European soccer clubs about getting involved there and have been for a little while," he told Sky Sports Radio, without naming which clubs.
"I guess those negotiations have been going on in the background and I'd like to get those concluded so hence we've gone public with the decision to sell." Tinkler said Manchester City's Aus$11 million (US $10.3 million) take-over this year of Melbourne Heart - which they rebranded Melbourne City - was an ownership model that could become more common among A-League clubs.
