Nadra's clarification

This refers to the news item published in Business Recorder on September 2 captioned "TI-Pakistan lodges complaint against Nadra". "This is to clarify that no illegal procurement has been made by NADRA with regard to Safe City Islamabad Project. Whereas, the re-initiation of procurement process was resumed in light of Supreme Court Judgement CP 91 of 2012 after following all the codal formalities. A wrong and misleading impression to the contrary has been conveyed in the news item, which is hereby contradicted and clarified.
"NAB's inquiry held on the direction of Supreme Court earlier concluded that no evidence of wrongdoing was found. These findings were, accordingly, submitted by NAB to the Supreme Court. "Ministry of Interior sought a specific advice of the Law Division on resumption of Project. Whereas, the Law Division advised that the re-initiated procurement process was approved by the competent authority in accordance with PPRA Rules, 2004 and within the parameters of Supreme Court judgement in CP 91 of August 2012; therefore, this project was resumed subsequent to approval by Ministry of after certain necessary codal formalities, based on legal advice and to safeguard public interest."
