Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) and Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) Peshawar will jointly hold a two-day "Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair for 2015" from Wednesday (tomorrow), in Peshawar. "The main purpose of this exhibition is to increase market linkages of women entrepreneurs for promotion of their handicrafts, besides to ensure participation in the trade exhibitions in Karachi, and abroad," Director TDAP, Noman Bashir said this while briefing to media persons about the event here on Monday.
He said women entrepreneurs from Peshawar, DI Khan, Charsadda, Swat, Abbottabad, and Multan and Lahore will exhibit their handmade products in this fair. He informed that more than 50 stalls would be set up in the two-day exhibition at a private wedding hall, in university town Peshawar. He said the fair will be inaugurated by Advisor to Chief Minister KP on Social Welfare and Women Development, Dr Mehr Taj Roghani.
"TDAP is regularly organising events for promotion of gems, leather, fruits, and other major products in the region and the two-day women entrepreneurs exhibition is also part of this efforts, which will be featuring handicrafts, including textiles, footwear products, consumers goods, especially gems and jewellery from entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region," he added.
Director TDAP said that development of women entrepreneurs in Pakistan is a part of the TDAP mandate, which has been actively working women segment in attainment of their objective regarding promotion of trade and business. The TDAP, he added, is taking steps to provide opportunities to women entrepreneurs by organising seminars and exhibitions, in collaboration with local women chamber and trade bodies to debate and discuss issue to their respective business ventures. Bashir said they have been expecting maximum attendance of families in the two-day exhibition in Peshawar.
